Default Cannot open Excel

Running Windows 98 with Office Professional 97. Possibly got bugged, can run
Word, Sage accounts and payroll, internet etc but cannot open Excel, just
sits there with the hourglass and if I try to quit I have am "out of
resources" and have to switch off and start again.
Have run McAfee, Norton Utilities and Adaware with no effect, also
re-installed Office 97, but still will not open Excel and out of resources if
I try.
Any suggestions, should I delete Office before re-installing?
Thanks for any help, business now very behind.

Try reinstalling Excel or all of Office 97. Yes, it's a good idea to
uninstall (not delete) it first. Do this from Control Panel, Add/remove
programs.

The newer versions of Office have the option to repair an installation but I
don't believe that the 97 version had that yet. If this doesn't succeed,
you might get better information from one of the Office newsgroups such as
microsoft.public.office.setup or microsoft.public.excel.setup.

Thanks Patty,

Tried installing the programme on the option that said to "add missing parts
of programme" or whatever but had no effect.
Have now uninstalled the whole Office Prof 97 and re-installed.
Works fine.
Just so annoying and, when you work out all day and only have access to your
other business in the evenings/weekends, you feel so lost or alone in trying
to sort this kind of problem.
Regards
