Default startup

Good morning, when I power on is there a way to remove the winme image that
flashes me.

Also, is there a difference between background or wallpaper?

Thanks

image that flashes me.

To do this requires your editing the hidden system file msdos.sys which is
located in the root of C:\. First you need to enable the viewing of
hidden system files in Explorer (Tools | Folder Options | View). Next
locate the file using Explorer, right click, select properties and uncheck
the box "Read-only". Now open msdos.sys with a text editor, notepad will
do fine, and add the line
Logo=0
to the end of the section [Options]
Save the file and then set the file to being read-only again by checking
the box on the properties sheet.

Reboot and you should no longer see the Win Me splash screen.

Removing WinMe flash

1. enabled viewing.
2. already unchecked.
-select properties and uncheck the box "Read-only".

Now when I add this do I put a new line log=0 under WinVer or beside
[Options] and if [Options] do I just type right beside it?

[Options]
BootMulti=1
BootGUI=1
AutoScan=1
WinVer=4.90.3000
;

Thanks

Mike, good morning.

I have put this beside [option] and underneath:

invalid setting in the msdos file: log=0

is the error I get on startup

[Options]
BootMulti=1
BootGUI=1
AutoScan=1
WinVer=4.90.3000
;

Do I put it under the semi-colon. By now your probably telling me to shove
it in the colon.

Thanks

I'm saying add that is insert the line. Of course I also told you that
the line should contain logo=0 not log=0 but if you want to try using log
who am I to day otherwise but then again, if you want it to work then just
maybe you might want to first try my suggestion.

As to whether you insert the line before or after the line containing the
semi colon ( is your choice entirely, it will make no difference. Lines
preceded by a semi-colon are treated as comments.
