Default Recover files after profile has been deleted

Hi,

I accidentally deleted my profile in Windows 98 and
totally forgot that my important files were there. I've
tried dozens of file recovery tools but they could not
recover any file.

Is my data gone for good?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know what recovery tools you tried. If they were any good, and =
if you didn't wait long, and if you didn't defrag, and if any number of =
other things didn't happen, they should be mostly recoverable. However, =
any number of things will overwrite files--just booting up and shutting =
down, even), and once that happens, they're not recoverable by any =
economically sensible method (need NSA types for that kind of recovery.)

I shopped for recovery tools not too long ago, and I settled on =
R-Studio:
http://www.r-studio.com/

Note--The proper thing to do when you discover the need for data =
recovery is to PULL THE PLUG! Don't do anything else. Then figure out =
how to get another computer setup, or get another drive for your =
computer, temporarily take the problem drive out, install a new OS and =
the recovery tools, use a DOS-based tool to make a *bit-for-bit* image =
of the problem drive, and then perform recovery operations on that =
image. While you can install the problem drive as a second drive on a =
Win9x system without worrying too much about overwrites, there are still =
a few things written, and if you put it into an NT-based machine the OS =
will write a *lot* of stuff to the drive right away, and keep writing =
stuff. What I most like about R-Studio is that it will do data recovery =
directly from the image file.
