icon colour problems in windows me

Please help, i accidentally rebooted my computer{fujitsu
p3 450]while playing age of empires 2 when i restarted
scandisk did not start automatically so i did a manual but
was told there were no errors.However my desktop and
toolbar icons are now a different shade and some toolbar
icons are now smaller, also when i try to start cd based
programs the graphics appear grainy.

Right click on your desktop. select Properties and then Settings and
adjust your screen resolution and colour depth to suit your equipments.
These were probably temporarily changed by the game you were playing and
since your system crashed rather than exiting the game were never reset.
