Default Runtime errors

About a week ago, I downloaded some programs to help with making videos and a
codec pack (all in one) as media player 9 was having a problem playing one of
them and I thought that may solve it (NOT, I hasten to add, pirated videos
but home made Disney holiday ones but not actually made by me - I belong to a
group that shares their holiday videos).
When I came to burn them with Nero, I started getting error messages at the
end of the transcoding. I know it isn't a problem with the videos as I have
burnt most of them before without problem using Nero
It started with "out of TLS indexes" which, it was suggested by Nero was a
codec problem/conflict.
I deleted the codecs and now get a runtime error saying that the program
tried to terminate in an unusual way at the end of the transcoding and to
contact the vendor. I did and they haven't a clue.
I have also had a series of messages saying that xxx caused an error in
xxx.Dll (usually a dll from Nero)
I have been through the usual uninstall/reinstall etc to no avail.
I could do with some pointers on where to look for this problem and the type
of problem that would cause it.
Alas, I have no restore points to use as the restore folder was full and
refusing to let me update things (1% 2% etc) and I had to use the usual
method to clear it . The restore point I now have is after the dowloads. I
did't find the problem for a few days.
I can stll use a different (but inferior) program for burning so I am
presuming it is a problem with Nero and my system.
Any pointers in he right direction (apart from reinstalling windows) would
be appreciated.
Thanks,
Hillneerg

Default Runtime errors

Well not exactly the response I had hoped for especially after seeing how
many other WinMe users had a similar question posted on numerous other sites.
Anyway, in the hope that someone comes to this searching the archives, I can
say what the problem was.
had installed a program called "Ultra Video Splitter" which had it's own
Dll files and rewritten a path in the registry (over-riding the Nero).
Sorry if that's not quote right technically but ut's the only way I can
explain it.
Reinstalling Nero didn't work because the other program retained it's path
so that had to be removed first. Then all instances of Nero had to be removed
(they have a tool for doing that) and then all references to Ahead or Nero
removed manually from the registry (back it up first) followed by seeral
reboots and a fresh installation of Nero.
Result - all working well again.
AS I say, this seems a common thing with WinMe (more so than other systems
from what I read). Of course it could have been another program - in my case
it was the Video splitter - that overwrites the Nero but the solution is the
same. Look for another program that deals with video that was downloaded
before Nero went funny (but wasn't there when it was working ok). You can
always reinstall it later and see if the same problem arises as you now have
the fix.
Hope this helps someone somewhere.

Congratulations on your solution, Hillneerg!
Nero can be very picky about what it co-habits with, as you've found out!
Thanks for coming back to let us know!
