Default Problem reading picture files

Well I guess the boo-boo started when I accidently forgot
to uncheck "always use this when opening this type of file"
Now any/all jpg's, gif's etc. open in notebook! uhg.

I tried this:
my computer/view/folder options/file types/jpg
file/edit/open/edit/browsed for 'ms paint'

Result: "can't find c:/my .bmp"

Me: :-(

Anyone: help?

Sounds like the old problem where associations lose their ability to
handle filenames with spaces in them.

In the dialog box where you specify the program to open with, check that
there are quotation marks around the %1.

It seems some people just assume each other not having an adequate
graphics app already, rather than:

(a) just not knowing how to fix associations
(b) considering it overkill to reinstall one of them

and so they suggest getting a new graphics app rather than showing them
how to manage associations in Windows.

Stewart.

The only drawback with opening a graphic for the purposes of viewing it via
MSPAINT is that the default tool is the pencil/pen. So unless one was not
careful, one might change the graphic and not be able to save it in the
original form. This is especially true for newbies. Hence I suppose the
suggestion for Irfanview. Although having used Xnview and tried Irfanview,
I'll stick with Xnview. Why?

* Xnview does not prompt to open by default all JPEGS and such.
* Xnview had a NNTP based newsgroup, until the sasser came about, now it is
webbased.

I think you mean "know how" rather than "be able", as it really only
applies to newbies who haven't discovered the Undo command.

Hence I suppose the suggestion for Irfanview.

Assuming that the OP only wants to look at pictures rather than edit them.
