Screensaver blank icon

When I come back from a screensaver it leaves a program
bar on the toolbar. I have windows 98 and I do not want to
use a workaround. Does anyone know what I can do to fix
this?

Stop using screensavers. It's a regular problem in Windows 98 which has
been eliminated in XP.

1. The blank buttons are often screensaver related so try a different one
or don't use one at all--use power management to shut the monitor off after
a few minutes. Also see:

2. Update your video driver.

3. If the blank buttons started immediately after a software installation,
uninstall that software.
