No the actual date was off by 1 day so I adjusted it back 1 day. This was supposed to be a 60 day demo?? mc Then you did exactly what I said and the License and application protections caught your attempt. Doesn't matter its just one day, it is a date which does not coincide with the License creation coded within it and the application. -- MEB http://peoplescounsel.org/ref/windows-main.htm Windows Info, Diagnostics, Security, Networking http://peoplescounsel.org The "real world" of Law, Justice, and Government ___--- |

IF they want applications for the OS then their attitudes must change a bit; the OS is not the number 1 OS on the planet, it is considered as a knitch OS; and does require programming to be compiled specifically for it. Another factor: IF they find those willing to supply FREE support, then they MUST provide *constructive* and helpful input back to those developers. They can no longer rely upon the "other" several millions of Win9X consumer users to do that, as those users are non-existent. As for Alwil supplying support to Win9X, whether paid or otherwise, I would doubt it as many other PAID suppliers DO supply Win9X support or at least compatible AV applications, and likely have more paid users already making that market potential extremely small for competitors. -- MEB http://peoplescounsel.org/ref/windows-main.htm Windows Info, Diagnostics, Security, Networking http://peoplescounsel.org The "real world" of Law, Justice, and Government ___--- |

That's the one I continue to use. It's main peccadillo is that it is tough to use Explorer or the Toolbar until the update of virus definitions is completed. But everything is fine after that! That v.4.8.1368 is fairly recent -- so I question whether they really will ever abandon us lowly Win98 users after all! its times like this pcr, that the new info i have is vital and relevant, but alas, there were/are twits here that attacked me for no reason, and i feel no need at all to help or assist. (not you personally.) oh well. s/c |

Antivirus software for 98
If you're willing to shell out a bit for the BEST, ESET NOD32 has a 98 version (you have to look at a few of their international sites to find it). It uses the same sig files as the latest XP/V/7 version, updated daily. The 98 interface is what /all/ interfaces should be. The XP/V/7 is "modern" in the bad sense of the word - but it /could be/ a LOT worse... And it IS the best AV program. FWIW...... Windoze7 is nothing more than VistaSE. think about it? think 'money', then think 'microsoft'. advertising my son, advertising to people with small minds is what micro aim their products at. s/c |

(and if they were enthusiastic about supporting 98 users, then why the major drama in just finding the damn site etc....? huh?) s/c |
