Default formatting newsgroups

How do I format my newsgroups on my Win98 computer so it doesn't show
replies as seperate from the original message. On my Winxp computer, it
shows the original post and I can read the replies by clicking on the little
plus sign in the box. It seems that on my Win98 computer, all the posts
start with "" and then the title of the orignal post.

Thanx,

Patty

What newsgroup reader are you using? In OE, it's View / Current View /
Group messages by conversation. Your newsreader should have a similar
option.

Yes, I am using OE6 but how did you get all that information that I'm in the
NY/NJ area using Verizon. Is is something only you MVP's can see?

Right clicking on your message and check the properties.
You'll see this:

X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180

and this:

NNTP-Posting-Host: pool-68-160-112-185.nwrk.east.verizon.net 68.160.112.185

Don't worry about it.

And mine -
NNTP-Posting-Host: pool-151-198-135-119.mad.east.verizon.net 151.198.135.119

One Madison NJ, the other Newark NJ.

There is quite a bit of interesting information that can be deduced from the
header of your posting. However, this information is not always available,
and should never be used as a substitute for a comprehensive description of
your operating environment and applications.

When you say "header of 'your' posting", do you mean mine in particular or
just anybodies header?? I see my address comes up as so I
guess that's a good thing.......or.......is there a way to find out my
e-mail address through these headers also?? Anyway, thanx for enlightening
me. I always wondered how you MVP's knew which server people were posting
from. I use to post through AOL when I had a dial-up connection until
someone in here told me that it was a clunky and error-ridden way to post in
the newsgroups. I believe I formatted it then to post through OE although I
had to sign onto AOL to get an internet connection. I only get 5 free hours
per month on that computer so I don't use it anymore. I keep it just in
case something should happen to my other two. Again, thanx for the tip. I
learned alot from reading these messages and not just my messages. Keep up
the good work!!
