Default where to find a legacy version of 'dialer.exe'?

I managed to crash my hard drive some time ago and lost a WIN 98 app I'd run across on the internet, and now I can't find it again.
It was an old, very old, version of 'dialer.exe' for WIN 98.
It had a unique characteristic (or, at least, I think it was unique; I've never seen another version that could do this); it would accept phone numbers from a desktop shortcut and pass them through to the dialer and actually dial the numbers one had placed in the shortcut. And, it did this without activating the GUI pop-up interface and without logging the number called; which is the part I really liked. It simply dialed the phone number from the shortcut without any further to-do about it, and did not leave the dialer.exe app subsequently loaded up in the memory.
I'm not sure they intended it to work that way, but it did. (It would not handle any 'extras' like an astrix for invoking caller-ID hide or the comma for a delay, but it would handle the number set, pass the numbers right on through and dial out.) But, it was 'improved' and replaced early on and newer versions won't do this.
The file size of the exe was in the 50KB range; 51KB or 57KB or something like that.

Anybody know how I might be able to find this old app and where to download it?
I found it quite convenient for some usages, especially setting up a shortcut for a number I knew I was going to use fairly frequently for a short time and then never use again (like for an ongoing job that would be finished up in a few weeks and then probably never called again; simply delete the shortcut when it wasn't useful anymore and it wasn't cluttering up my system anymore). And, it worked in WIN 2000 and in WIN XP too.

TIA

There is a website that contains earlier versions of many
applications.

Sorry, I can't find the exact URL, but it also contains all the old
Adobe versions.

Good luck

If your modem is on a real COM port (not a soft or controllerless
modem), then you can use a simple DOS ECHO command.

Paste the following lines into a BAT file.

@ echo off
echo ATDT12345678; COMn
rem | choice /n /t:y,5 nul
echo ATH COMn
exit

Replace "COMn" with your actual COM port, and 12345678 with your
desired phone number.

The above routine will dial your number and wait 5 seconds for you to
pick up your handset before hanging up the modem, after which you will
retain control of the call.

Adding L0M0 to your dial command will turn off the dialing sounds, ie
....

ATL0M0DT12345678;

You can also add your "extras" to the phone number.

Lee,

My Dialer.exe is found under Windows, it is ver. 4.10.2000, 4/23/1999,
67.3KB and it has an 8 speed dial capacity but I've never known of it's
ability to dial from a shortcut as you describe. Maybe my version is too
new. It is what came with Win98se.

Yeah, anything came with Win98SE is way too new. They updated it way before the SE came out. In fact, my First Edition didn't have the old one, it came with a newer 61.7KB version that won't accept numbers as pass through parameters either.
I found the older version, serendipitously it would seem, some time back, and downloaded it off the internet, but I don't remember the precise Google search that turned it up (and, of course, that same search might not work today even if I could remember it exactly), and I'm running outta ideas for search terms or places to look to get the older 5*KB version off the internet.

If it's really important, I can look for it on my copies of win-95 and
even win-3.x.

But you've got to tell me it's really important.
