Default Printer goes offline in network with Win 98SE

We have 7 PCs networked using Windows 98 SE. One PC has a
laser printer that all use. After not printing for a
while (15-30 minutes) the next print job gives an error
message: "Printer is offline." The only way to resolve
this is to reboot the PC with the printer locally
attached. After that, the networked PCs can get the
checkmark next to "printer is offline" reset.

Any suggestions?
