Quick Launch disappeared.......

Hi All......

Lost everything in OE tonight. Eventually found that the Application Data
Folder was now in Applog......so mucked something up somehow.

After some futzing around, got all my emails back (moved the Application
Data Folder out of Applog).....but have duplicates of Identities. I won't
bother to explain.

Asked in the OE group how on earth to get my Address Book back......300
names......aarrgghh!! It keeps telling me it has imported it successfully,
but it hasn't. Majik or Steve should be able to help. Tried 5 different
ways to import it, but it ain't working.

HOWEVER.....I managed to lost my Quick Launch thingie on the bottom left by
Start......says it can't create it now by right clicking on the taskbar. I
was moving OE over one.....but had noticed this Application Data Folder in
Applog earlier and didn't stop to think about it. It was a hidden folder
and I had a devil of a time importing......that's OK now.

Any suggestions on the Quick Launch Toolbar?? *We are not amused* at the
moment.....wry grin.

Got my address book back from one of Majik's OE Backups that I did......got
all my mail back.....now I think I will uninstall and reinstall Firefox.

I have no idea why this is happening........nothing unusual earlier today.
Any ideas?? Must go and check out some more programs.

Yes......that was the first thing I did......and I just might go back
further.

There was an update to my HP Scanner which was a photo editing
program.....added that last night. Opened and shut the computer today and
now this happens.

Reinstalled Firefox.....found my Address Book from an older backup.....got
my email back (SR didn't do one durned thing for that). So getting there.

Wish I knew what caused this. Just baffled!! Hey....Bookmarks worked a bit
differently, but they imported into Firefox OK.....lost all my passwords and
the like.

Going to uninstall the new photo editing update that I installed last
night......HP one. Bet it's that. Major mess tho.

Which brings up a question.......if one does a System Restore to a previous
date, then another SR to a date previous to that (stay with me
here).......then if one does an "undo" of SR.......does it go back to the
date prior or all the way back to the beginning?
Heirloom, old and sounds like the chicken/egg thing

Stay with me here too......it goes back to whatever one you decide to
Undo....capish? Never undone one, so I am pondering here.

I did a System Restore first off.....so that is back to 24 hours ago. If I
do another one, I would be back 48 hours. So if I wanted to undo that, I
think I would do the later one first...then the first one I did.....but on
the other hand......you are confusing me too.

Figgs.....off to do a reboot and then remove that update which involves
another restore.......shoot.

Hi Tom.....

Boy, did I need you.....had problems with the new Firefox but am working
around them.

I had first just gone back to after I added the upgrade. So this time I
removed it in Add/Remove and then went back to just before I added it. Has
to be that proggie.....nothing else was changed on here.

Weird....and now I have a mixed up mess with Application Data......I will
sort that out in a day or so when I see which Identies are being used.

Amazing what all can go wrong with some little unknown thing......I think I
see XP in my crystal ball, grin.
