Problems with Explorer
I an having difficulties with explorer that resemble the
ones "jackson" has. When you click on something that requires explorer to open it (ex. Control Panel, My Computer, C drive etc.) it says explorer has preformed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Afterward it will say "An error has occurred in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, please restart your computer." Too bad that does jack sh**. I continue to have this problem, and i have a couple friends who are having the same thing happen. Could someone please reply to this if you know how to fix this? Everyone be aware this might be becoming a wide-spread problem |

Problems with Explorer
I had the same problem where I couldn't open My Computer
or Explore. I found a link which told me how to take the PC back in time. Basically search Windows folder for Scanreg.ini, then open it (should open in Notepad). Look for the line of text which shows Backup=. I changed my number to 10 then saved the changes. You then click Start and take the option to Restart in MSDOS. At the prompt type scanreg /restore hit enter, you should now see a blue screen showing dates. Scroll down to find a date prior to when you first had the problem choose this date and enter. You PC should then revert back to that date, well it worked for me....Good Luck -----Original Message----- I an having difficulties with explorer that resemble the ones "jackson" has. Problems with Explorer
Your directions are partially faulty. Changing the scanreg.ini file only
changes the amount of backed up copies of the registry that are maintained--the default number is five. When you open scanreg to restore a copy of the registry, only the latest five copies will be displayed. You have to do a manual manipulation to get one of the earlier copies. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Ray Taylor" wrote in message ...
