Default This is a little odd..........

A short while ago I was going on about a file named NCOMPARE.EXE which norton seemed to think was infected by a virus and so I allowed it to be quarantined. However I discovered recently due to doing a bit of uninstalling and reinstalling of stuff that this file belongs to Norton system works. It is the compare file. Could it be possible that a single file within the system works(which has anti virus thrown in) lot got infected or is norton anti virus talking rubbish? I have solved the issue by deleting the file, and uninstalling then reinstalling system works but I'm a bit baffled by the whole thing.
