Need a Win98SE upgrade
Does anybody know where I can get a legalcopy of the upgrade disk from
Win98 to 98SE? I've got some old software that will only run under 98 or 98SE. Thanks, Oppie |

"Jon_Hildrum" wrote in message ... Try Ebay That would be one way to go. There were a bunch offered with starting bids of $5. I've been jerked around on ebay before and don't care much for it. I'd just prefer to pay for it without the bidding (perhaps $20). The last time I used paypal, by the time I realized the merchandise wasn't coming, it was too late to file a complaint. Oppie |

I have actually found ebay to be quite good. I actually got my win98se cd from a car boot sale for a pound. I did buy one off of ebay before then and unfortunately ended up with an illegal copy and the seller got booted off. I did actually receive the goods though. I wasn't that fussed but generally if you check the feedback you will find a good seller. How do you tell the difference between an upgrade and a full version? The cd says for a blank pc only but I used it recently over the 98se the pc was already running to fix my missing files and it treated it as an upgrade.

My understanding is that the basic disk is the same. (as I recall) the
upgrade disk does not come with a activation code while the one 'for blank PC' includes the activation code. The rationale is that an upgrade just builds on the previously installed and registered system. Many folks swear by Ebay. My son does a lot of business there and even just bought a classic Ford Mustang through them. Personally, I've just had a run of bad luck with them. Yes I meant a product key
-- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com "PSYCHOPIXIE" wrote in message ... Do you mean product key? You can buy those off of ebay or use the one already existing on your pc (if you run win98se already). I was lucky enough to have the code slapped on top of the system unit in the form of some sticker.(my pc is 2nd hand) Jon_Hildrum Wrote: You need an install code for the any of the win98 versions -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com "Oppie" wrote in message ...- My understanding is that the basic disk is the same.
