How to set a specific time to shut down the computer
I am running Windows 98 and I would like to specify that
the computer turns off at 10.30PM each night. In this way I am hoping to control my children's gaming vs homework. I already have 2 password programs working including a bios password,I can probably password protect a timed shut down program (if indeed this is possible) with my other password software, however once the kids are allowed on I cannot get them off without a lot of stress. Any simple solutions out there? I don't seem to be able to find anything in my control panel. |

Hi, I use PowerOff: http://users.pandora.be/jbosman/applications.html It serves me well on a few different computers, but keep in mind that anything on a PC can be tampered with by a determined individual. I haven't had any problems with the ones that I run on a few different PCs. I use it almost everyday on my own PC so it shuts down after I fall asleep listening to radio mystery programs over the Internet. MM |

Create a task processor task with this as the target
C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE SHELL32.DLL,SHExitWindowsEx 1 set the task to run at whatever time you want the pc to shut down, I created a multiple run task with different times for weekends and 'repeat' often enough that they get tired of switching it back on. Task scheduler already runs so there is no need to hide anything in startup. If you are doing anything you dont want to shut down Rclick pause task scheduler -- Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Catalog of removal tools http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters "Chris" wrote in message ... | I am running Windows 98 and I would like to specify that | the computer turns off at 10.30PM each night.
