I have the same problem!!! Try inserting the System
Recovery disc.

Does anyone know if reinstalling Windows 98 deletes my
current Windows 98 files? It seems I have to do this b/c
my computer only brings me to this screen from the C:\
prompt. Any other suggestions???

Thank you,
Damsel in distress....not wanting to lose all of my
college files

You haven't provided enough information. What do you want to do and why?
Are you trying to install to a blank partition or over the top of the
existing system? For information on installing W98, go to:

If you have a system restore disk, you have to check with the computer maker
or the user guide to see exactly what options it offers. Some restore CDs
give NO options and they run fdisk to make a new partition(s), format the
partition and restore the system to its original condition. If yours is one
of these, any data on the drive is lost.
