No external power source detected error message.
While attempting to use my Dell DESKtop to format a DVD in my new DVD-RW
drive for use with the drag-to-disk application, I received the following error, "WARNING: The application cannot detect an external power source connected to your computer. If your computer is running on battery power, it may not have enough power left to complete this task. To be safe , we strongly recommend that you connect your computer to an external power source before continuing. CONTINUING WITHOUT CONNECTING YOUR COMPUTER TO AN EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR DATA OR AN UNUSABLE DISC. Do you want to continue?" The drive manufacturer first recommended upgrading to a higher wattage power supply; but when that didn'nt work, they blamed the error message on a windows problem saying that it appears windows has been installed incorrectly into Laptop mode and would need to be reinstalled. The DVD drive tech support rep continued to say that in WinXP the mode can simple be switched but he was uncertain if the solution would be so simple in win98se. Do such modes exist in WIn98se? If so, could this really be the problem? This message only appears for this format task in a "Drag-to-Disk" dialog box. |

No external power source detected error message.
First right click on desktop. Display Properties.Screen Saver Tab. Settings
button. And make sure Power Scheme is set to "Always on" and not Portable/Laptop. No external power source detected error message.
Thanks. But, although I have applied this setting, the error persists.
