can't open audio device
i try to play music in my realplayer but get the following
message "cannot not open the audio device. another application may be using it." also, in device manager i have an exclamation mark on"PCI IDE controller. also, i don't have access to audio or MIDI in multimedia properties

Try uninstalling and then re-installing your sound card drivers.

i have tried uninstall and reinstall. the first time just

What else is running at the time that might use a sound device?
I do not use real player because in my experience it is a very poorly written program that often causes errors of the type you describe, for no particular reason.
