Default noob; how to connect to internet?

Sorry guys, I haven't used Win98 for a decade. I've built a legacy
Win98 box and need to connect to the net. (Please note, I have the
internet working just fine on my XP box - it uses an ethernet cable
with an external modem.)

Please can someone tell me what hardware I need to buy for my Win98
box so I can just use my existing ethernet cable and modem? I think I
need a PCI card of some description. And I'm guessing one that comes
with Win98 drivers. Any ideas very welcome.

Please note that my Win98 mobo does not have any ethernet connector
thingy at its rear, which is why I think I need to buy some kind of
PCI card.

Thanks very much, best regards from Robert.

Yes, make sure the modem has Win9x drivers.

Ok, I think I can answer my own question. I think I need a gadget
that has USB (version 2) at one end, so you can plug it in to the
Win98 box, and an ethernet adapter plug socket thingy on the other end
(at the "gadget" end). They seem to be reasonably priced too, about
£10 / $20. The good thing about them is that most (if not all) of
these devices on the market support Win98SE as well as more modern
OSs, so I can also get the proper drivers.

(Please note: I've run out of PCI slots.)

Example device = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-USB-1.../dp/B000062R4P

-Robert.
