I have windows me. what happened was i try to defrag. the screen comes up,
but the screen is white instead of having all the little squares that change color as the defrag goes along. then the perscent goes to 1 or 2% and then keepes starting over. i have 81% free space. all other programs seem to run ok. there is 63mb of ram, with 2gig of drive space. just can't get the defrag to get past 2%. help plz. thank you bob -- boboffla |

First, try running defrag in Safe Mode. You'll probably find it works OK.
If it runs ok in Safe Mode, then in all probability, you have some background program/utility running in Normal Mode and you should take a look at ScanDefrag v5.5 This is a FREE utility, written by several well respected contributors to these News Groups and has been designed to run several original MS utilities through a 'filter' which eliminates the usual junk which stops Defrag (and Scandisk) from running properly in Normal Mode - as you are already experiencing g You can get ScanDefrag at either of the two sites below - and be sure to read the associated notes for setting it up: http://home.earthlink.net/~bblanton2...efrag/main.htm http://www.blueorbsoft.com/scandefrag/index.html Good luck Mart "bob b" wrote in message ...
