What is the latest version of Word or Office that I can use on Windows 98
without any problems?

You should be able to use versions of Word up to and including Word
10/Word XP/Word 2002 (which are all the same version).on a Win 9x system.
You cannot use versions of Word that form part of either Office 2003 or
Office 2007.
