Default Jerky mouse/screen action

I'm using an optical Microsoft Wheelmouse, 4.12 software,
and WinMe.
Lately, the pointer gets jerky after I clik on an internet
link when I'm
online. D/L'ing the data for a new site also seems to get
slower as it is
transferring data to my screen. Matter-of-fact, the
pointer got jerky as I
am writing this, plus, the cursor moved slow/jerkily on
this email screen..
There seemed no activity altho the process for an incoming
email started
soon after the jerkiness started. I just d/l the mouse
software but that
had no effect on the jerky movement. After the d/l'ing is
complete, and
there seems to be no other activity onscreen, the pointer
again gets
smooth - as now.
Any ideas out there on this...?

ps. a musical note just played form the computer - with
lots of
interruptions so the sound was on and off as it played...

look here for instructions on how to clean up your startup axis, preventing
unnecessary programs loading
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mca...rt/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.
