Why not have a look yourself through the archives
and post here your conclusions about preferred style?

Okay, I am not motivated to do that now so I will investigate later.

There is no formally preferred style in the MS groups. I use at various times all
the different methods, depending on the situation. Any "rules" that may be cited in
response to your question are not rules but either "guidelines" or the personal
opinion of the person who makes the reply. My own personal "preferred" style when
appropriate is inline replies.

Well, since this newsgroup has such little action, I don't think it really
matters here.
Many folks here (including MVPs) like to top post, as I really prefer to
do. For me it makes a long thread (discussion) easier to follow, most of the
time.
In many ngs, this question tends to start super long threads (debates).
The norm in some groups with an ever vigilant 'procedure nazi' is to always
top post and cut (snip) anything not revelant to the reply.
So, I hope this doesn't turn into one of dem dar tings.

Thanks Everyone. I will check out the web links later, Glen. It is time for
me to get ready for church. I will check in later tonight or Monday.

Dan,

Regardless of your findings, a small "war" of sorts may start. Many people
know the "only" *proper* Usenet etiquette, and refuse to listen to alternate
viewpoints. Live and let live.

Have a look he
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...rch+this+group

and he
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...0b4f548a050bf0

and, in general:
http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q...007&safe= off

Seems that one can possibly succeed at annoying just about anyone regardless
of the selected "position", so, just pick your poison and type away. :-D
