How / where do I adjust / increase the font size for like the desktop icon names and well as the standard operating font size for the various windows programs. As I get older the smaller font sizes are getting harder to see. Sorry if I am not explaining myself clear enough but hopefully someone can help me out here. TIA |

Adjust the font for the icon names in Control Panel-Display-Appearance

OK. I guess I did not explain correctly. I am not just talking about icons. I am talking about all fonts used in windows such as when you right click on something and bring up the property box - the font size used in or on it or the size font used when in explorer where it list the directories and files and all the other windows fonts - not just the icons. I know it can be done somehow because I seen it once but can not remember where or how. Adjust the font for the icon names in Control Panel-Display-Appearance tab. I am not talking about just icons either.
The item: Icon has a font size. That font is for the names under the icons on the desktop and window text. Use other items where applicable for other fonts, e.g. Menu, Message Box ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.html On Tue, 11 Jul 2006 12:22:50 GMT, in microsoft.public.win98.display.general, kraut wrote: OK. Win 98se font size.
I have a related question. I was adjusting the font size and display
appearance size for my father who has significant loss of sight. The appearance is extremely large now, but I can't access lower areas in the control boxes since they are off the screen and there is no scroll bar to take you to the bottom of the box. For example, I wanted to change the mouse settings, but I can't see the bottom of the control box any more. How do I set it back to default settings or normal display settings so I can make further changes. I can't see the Advanced options in the Appearance box to let me change the font size back-- it also is off the screen! I assume there is a simple fix, but I don't know what it is. Any help? Thanks. Win 98se font size.
You don't need to see the bottom of the control box.
Make the changes and hit the Enter key. There are no Advanced options in the Appearance tab. Advanced is on the Settings tab. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.html On Sun, 6 Aug 2006 10:40:02 -0700, in microsoft.public.win98.display.general, Ken wrote: I have a related question. Win 98se font size.
Thanks for the reply. I misspoke. I was in the Display Properties, Settings
Box. I changed both the Screen Area to give the largest print and the Font Size in the Advanced box. I think the main thing I have to do is get back to the Screen Area and move the setting to the right, but I can't see the Screen Area control, it is off the bottom of the screen. How can I make the change without being able to see the control? Thanks. "Alan Edwards" wrote: You don't need to see the bottom of the control box. Make the changes and hit the Enter key. Win 98se font size.
Right click an empty place on the desktop.
Click Properties in the popup menu. If you can see the tabs click the Settings tab. If you can't see the tabs press/hold down CTRL and press the Tab key 5 times. It should now be on the Settings tab. Press only the Tab key once to move to the Screen Area setting. Press the Right arrow key once to move the setting to the right once, twicw to move it 2 settings and so on. Press Enter when you feel it's the setting you want. If the setting accepted is not the one you want, follow the steps above to sixe it again. -- Brian A.
