Brande, I concur with Noel, although I would not look for a 356 MB memory
module, at least in the USA. Here you will find modules in sizes 128, 256,
512 MB, and 1 GB.

I further recommend the following article for virtual memory, aka, the page

The 'Physical memory' is TOTALLY limited by the RAM sticks installed on

the
PC - the only way to expand that is to purchase extra RAM sticks.

Adjustments can be made to the Virtual Memory - but they wouldn't do you

any
good in this instance.
There are 1024 MB in a GB - and you would need to (probably) purchase a

new
stick of RAM of 356MB alone, or two of 128MB to get the game to work (ME
doesn't appreciate having mixed-size RAM sticks installed, much)

The default Virtual Memory setting for Win9x system is 2GB
The default for Win NT systems (of which Win XP is one) is a maximum of

2.5
times the Physical RAM - which explains your setting (you have 384MB RAM
installed? - take away the 32MB your Video card may be using, and

multiply
by 2.5, and you get around that number).
No-one has yet explained to me (to my satisfaction) why XP is limited in
this way - it goes against all rational logic - so you'll have to look
elsewhere for an explanation for that.

As Rick said, you need to *run* the file you downloaded on

a
windows
PC to
create the boot disk (use the OEM Win ME boot disk

program -
instructions
below).
You should also change the second and third boot devices -
preferably
to
the
CD and HD, so that your boot order is Floppy, CD, HD. Then

if
all
else
fails, your system should be ready to accept the Recovery

disk.

Insert a formatted floppy disk, run the program, and when

it's
finished,
shut down the PC, then restart it with the floppy in the

drive.
Once that's done, and working, you can remove the disk, and
boot
back
to
Windows and let us knowg (use CTRL+ALT+DEL, or the reset
button
to
reboot)

Then go here, and see if you can follow the directions to

use
System
Restore
to repair the system - it's worth a shot, and will save a

lot
of
effort if
it works.

The instructions look a lot more complex than they are -

just
print
them
out
and take them one step at a time.
