Memory Usage Problem
Alan,
Since resources are finite and cannot be increased the only way to deal with reduced resources is to limit the applications that you have running at any time. For example by closing windows rather than minimising them and by only starting them when required rather than having them being loaded each time you boot your system. A good place to start in determining which start-up application you need and which are less essential is Pac's Portal (http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php). Be vary careful though and don't disable essential Win Me components such as PowerProfile x2, *StateMgr, KB891711.exe, TaskMonitor, SystemTray and ScanRegistry unless you fully realise the consequences of such actions. You can however safely disable PCHealth (this has nothing to do with system restore, post back if you need information on this) and SSDPSRV unless you need your system to be UPnP aware and possibly Scheduling Agent depending on whether you use this or not. Best of luck and hopefully you'll be able to improve your free resources immediately following booting your PC. -- Mike Maltby Alan Ostrowitz wrote: OK, I had only 28% system resources, 28% user & 47% GDI, then load Wordperfect, down to 18, 18 and 33. then load Adobe, and received the red message that resources were down 90% or more. (No mention of memory here). How do I rectify this? |
