Already installed it over 1.0.7 with no problems and it saved my
bookmarks and everything. It's the same thing made better as far as I
can tell from the little time I've been playing with it.

Did the same and it looks good. Took out a couple of themes, but I find
that the font in the bookmarks is larger.....which is a good thing!! Tried
d/l the 'brushed theme', but it didn't work out. So I will wait till they
get the bugs ironed out. Like the new Options setup better.

Cheers. btw, having got my BB back I finally got the latest T'Bird. Haven't
worked out yet how to make certain people's posts be retrieved already
marked as read, thus not see them until required, if ever, but presumably
that's in the help file somewhere. Naturally it takes me forever to rtfm.

Default [OT] BAH......Firefox 1.5 Released

I was having major problems getting both Firefox 1.5 and IE to load. Did a
system restore and now the older Firefox won't work at all. But IE is back
working at full speed. So guess that is a clue.

Might reverse the SR to see what happens, or hit the Firefox forum to see
what to back up (done that once before) and then uninstall and reinstall the
older version. I did a reinstall of version 1.0.7 over the same one in case
a file was missing, but no go.

Pooh on betas being released too soon!!!!

Just thought I would let you know.

Default [OT] BAH......Firefox 1.5 Released

Hokay!! It took me several tries and a lot of cursing, but after about 5
different attempts to get my old Firefox back.....complete with all the
bookmarks, passwords and such......yippee, I finally did it.

Cleaning all the junk I could find to do with the new version out of the
Registry (and Windows explorer of course) seems to have done the trick. But
I am very cautious when doing that. I stick with the old freebie version of
JV Tools and I only took out about 1/3 of the Firefox entries. I looked for
tonight's date and version numbers...coz I had also tried twice to reinstall
1.0.7 and it either wouldn't work, or I had lost all the bookmarks, etc.

Just one more little glitch to work out (I can't get Pogo..OH NO!!) but I
can use IE if I need to, grin. And also about 3 extra Firefox "profiles"
that I will delete in a day or two.

If it hadn't been 4 am in England, I could have called Mike or
Noel....ROFL!! But what the heck......I need these hair-raising challenges
now and again.

As for Firefox 1.5....you can stuff it!! (Canadian version of that
expression, btw). Not about to put that on here till they work out the
bugs. It was incredibly slow to load.....now with the old version, it
flies.

Cheers...Figgs

I spoke too soon, durn it. It won't open most of the time. Opens on
reboot, but not again if I close it. I am ready to heave this....8-(( I
put the registry entries back, but no dice. And Pogo won't work. (not
allowing a popup) Back to IE for now. I will try and sort it out tomorrow.

Hi, Heather,

Take a look here about downgrading after installing 1.5. The relevant
info is near the bottom of the page.

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=341279

It may be worth considering uninstalling, and then follow with a clean
installation. The link above also provides info about performing a
clean installation.

The upgrade to 1.5 is worth it IMO. Pages render faster in this
version, and there are some added features that I like. I had a slight
hiccup upgrading on Windows ME but XP went smoothly.

Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom.....you are such a sweetheart. It is now 2 am and I just finished
doing the most involved rebuild and not much info to go by that I could
find. As a last resort and not entirely sure why I tried it, I created a
new profile and painstakingly copied over files that I thought were
OK.....and it seems to be working.

I had a quick scan of the link you gaved and it seems I did it kind of
right, but in my own way, grin. I will take another look in the morning and
ponder on whether or not to go thru this again. I had the opposite with
1.5....it was horribly slow to load. But as you say, perhaps a clean
install and make sure the registry entries are cleaned up as well.

Thanks again and glad to see you are still here. Who else could help with
Firefox, lol!!
