Hello.

I keep recieviing this error message preventing my
computer from starting up

EXPLORER
This program has performed and illegal......

Details a

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module
EXPLORER.EXE at 016........

I tried what the Knowledge base suggested and went to
Command Prompt Only and entered at the prompt: ren
c:\explorer.exe explorer.old

but it just says file not found. ANyone know anything???

There are many possible causes for the error message "Explorer caused
and invalid page fault in module Explorer.exe".

The possible presence of an outdated version of Explorer.exe in the
root directory of the hard drive (which is what the KB article you
read is referring to) is just one of these possible causes.
