Hello, how do I determine a PC`s internet static/dynamic IP address,
Computer name and Workgroup name. I`m going to try to set up a friends two
desktops to a cable router(linksys) to share a B/B connection and think I
need to know how to do this. Win98se.
Thanks
Kim

Open a DOS box and type

ipconfig

Hmm...on Win98 it may be winipcfg, it's been a while since I did this
on a Win98 machine.

It's easier to just enter a static IP for each computer on a (small)
lan. It's also easier to just enter 4.2.2.2 for the DNS server as
well.

You can enter those numbers, as well as look at the computer and
workgroup name, by right-clicking on the "Network Neighborhood"
desktop icon and selecting properties. Drill down to the TCP-IP
setting for the ethernet card and look at it's properties, and change
them as necessary.

I don't know how B/B operates but some ISPs require the dynamic address and/or the
NICs MAC address entered into the routers configuration to gain web access.

Both can be used in 98SE, winipcfg typed in Start and ipconfig /all from a command
prompt.

Hi here i list out the steps to find the ip address of your windows 98 system .They are
1. Go to your "Start" button and select the "Run" option
2. Type in winipcfg
3. A command window will pop up and list your IP number.
Else if you want to find your network ip address then visit sites like http://www.ip-details.com/ they will display your network ip address along with details like ip location ,country ,ISP address and so on ...
