Have a look at these sites to assist with programs that load with Windows
and then below for Scandisk and Defrag help.

CTRL-ALT-DEL will bring up the End Task window, however, it will not show
every running process. Most apps can be disabled from within the app
itself by using Properties or Settings or Options......the best way to
disable an app.
Here are some sites that will help you trim your startup axis......they
will
tell you what is needed and what is 'fluff.'

*First* take a look at your Systray where the clock and volume control
are. If there are programs there which don't need to be, see if you can
change their "Load at Windows Startup" Option/Preference.

Start/Programs/Startup Folder is another place (though rarely used these
days).

*Then* start looking at msconfig.exe as posted by others. If you see
something in there that looks unnecessary, first try to change the "Load
at..." etc. in the main program first (it rarely makes a difference, but
just in case...). For the stuff you don't recognize, check it against
the sites proferred.
