Default Primary IDE Controller Error

I've had a wetsern digital HD installed on my machine for a few years now.
All has worked fine until the other day. My two cd drives would not show up
in "my computer". After researching articles in here I ran fdisk and sys.com.
CD drives were recognized and functioning but now "D" drive doesn't work.
This is my WD HD. I have a yellow exclimation by my primary IDE controller.
When I try to open "My Computer" now, it briefly shows the flashlight icon
then freezes. The only way around this is unplugging power from the WD HD.
I've read articles about Noides and Bios upgrades but I'm wondering if any of
this is a result of running fdisk and sys.com earlier. And is there a way to
fix this so I can get into my WD HD. Thanks for the help!

| I have a yellow exclimation by my primary IDE controller.

Probably that needs tending to in Device Manager in Safe Mode. I hesitate to say what you must do in there. Anyway, show us the following...

(1) "START button, Run, MSInfo32". Use CTRL-Mouse to highlight relevant
info & the Edit menu to Copy it...

Windows-managed swap file on drive C (6458MB free)
Available space on drive C: 6458MB of 7979MB (FAT32)
Available space on drive D: 6232MB of 7979MB (FAT32)
Available space on drive E: 773MB of 2792MB (FAT32)
Available space on drive F: 7979MB of 7979MB (FAT32)
Available space on drive G: 7786MB of 7979MB (FAT32)
Available space on drive H: 7620MB of 7979MB (FAT32)
Available space on drive I: 6174MB of 6174MB (FAT32)

(2)
(a) "START button, Programs, MS-DOS Prompt"
(b) FDISK /Status
(c) Use the "MARK", outline text with mouse, "COPY" button to post the
results.

C:\FDISK /Status
Disk Drv Mbytes Free Usage
1 19092 8298 57%
C: 7996
E: 2798
2 38169 100% Full drive
D: 7996 One partition

Disconnect electricity, open the PC case, and
trace the data cables from the hard drives to the
circuit board. You will probably find there two
data cable sockets side by side. Just remove
your data cable connector, plug it into the other socket
on the circuit board, turn on power, and see
whether your drives are connected to the second
IDE controller.

Please tell us what drives are connected to what controllers, and what drives are
master and slave on each controller. Also, how are the drives jumpered, as
master/slave, or Cable Select?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Just run the program WD provides for checking the hard drive first. Check
their website. wdc.com or westerndigital.com Then, run with the flow here
after all is stated as good.
