Default Attempts to extract MSVCRT.Dll failng

Per KB299296 I'm attempting to replace a missing MSVCRT.Dll file. I have 1)
rebooted with Win98 startup disk, 2)selected the 1st menu option(with cd
support), 3)d: is the cd drive. Now the fun part: the prompt is at A:...I
enter ext as instructed but do not get a "Microsoft Extract Command Line
Helper". Should I change the drive to D: then enter "ext" to get the helper?
Or, can I download a copy of MSVCRT.DLL (on another machine), copy (in MS
dos) the file from a floppy to the Windows\System directory?
Many thanks.

I would copy the file on a different machine to a floppy disk. Boot with
the floppy start up disk (no CDRom support required) and when you get to an
A: prompt, put the disk containing the file in the drive. Type: Copy
A:\msvcrt.dll C:\Windows\system
and hit enter.
