Default Stack fault in shdocvw.doc

When I boot the PC and log onto microsoft network . i get error message
that "explorer had stack fault in shdocvw.dll...." and windows freezes.
If i cancel the login, no error message and windows runs OK except i cant
see the network of course.
I have read the KB on this stack faults in shdocvw.dll and my issue with
network login isnt addressed. they talk about "My documents" etc
This problem began to appear recently after i installed and upgrade to
Norton antivirus which i have since uninstalled and reinstalled but still
get the same stack fault in any configuration.

Please advise any comment, please.

Try IE Repair, in the Tools menu of System Information (MSINFO32.EXE)

I have to also suggest that you consider an alternative antivirus. Norton has
always been a massive piece of bloatware, and as time passes, its behavior on a
Windows 98 system gets worse and worse. Myself, I use eTrust Armor.

It appears that my profile was corrupt. when i looged on as another user, no
problem, so i recreated my profile and all seems well.
Your comment regarding Norton was confirmed by several techs here that claim
that windows problems created by Norton install or uninstall are quiete
often nearly unfixable.
Unfortunetaly ,we are using Symantec on our network, but when i have to
renew next year, we will take a hard look around.
We will all be using XP by then anyway

thanks
Tom
