Subject: saving attachments

unable to open saved emails.

The original problem started when I had to re-install
outlook express. Allthe emails I had saved in a new file,
all came up withh the windows icon, which, on trying to
open , came up with "OPEN WITH" and I selected EXPLORER.
They all now have the computer icon which I am unable to
open.

Use Internet Explorer, not "Windows" Explorer or select a graphic app.

Left click once on the file to hilite it, then hold down the Shift key =
and right click on it to get the popup menu, select "Open With" from the =
list, select the program you want to open it with, put a check in =
"Always open.......", apply/ok out. It may be a good idea to leave =
"Always open......." unchecked until you are sure that you have the =
correct program you want to use.=20
I find it a good idea to leave "Always open......." unchecked until you =
are sure that you have the correct program you want to use. Once you are =
sure of the program to use, then check it.

and not attachments as your Subject line suggests.

Yeah, but it was saved emails so I believe your response was almost
correct--substitute OE for IE.
