FlashPlayer?
Believe I have narrowed the problem to flashplayer. But going to their
website and reinstalling has done no good. I probably turned off or deleted something when running some of the programs which check for malware. Anyway, When surfing a web page, such as HP printers, there is a link for "Tour". When clicked I get a new window with background color, but nothing else other than an icon in upper left corner of the window which contains 3 symbols, a square, circle, and a triangle. Any ideas as to what I have turned off or deleted? Maybe java? If so, how to get it going again. Thanks. Bill |

Check, in IE, Tools, Internet Options, Security tab, click on the Custom
Level button and scroll through the list of options. Here you can customize the Java and Scripting. When you post back, provide the URL to the site you are having trouble with.....I'll see if the same thing happens on my machine. Also, consider some antivirus apps will have settings for the blocking of ActiveX, Java and Scripting........as do some firewalls. Heirloom, old and hard to say "Bill Sumrall" wrote in message ... Thanks for the ideas, Heirloom, tried them but no go. The website is:
(Check wrap-around...) http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...84-305385.html From that page which is info on HP's 7960 printer on the right-hand side is a box with choices. One choice is "Take a tour." When clicked the window opens with background color but nothing else takes place - only that little icon in upper left-hand corner. Hey Bill,
I went to the site and 'took the Tour.' It is a Javascript function, so, you should pursue your issue from that angle. Make sure you have Java enabled or, at least, set to 'prompt.' Any other security programs that you may have running should be checked for allowing the Java, as well. BTW, you aren't missing much by not getting the tour..........g. Heirloom, found the problem. Among the multitude of Spyware Prevention programs I have was one, SpywareBlaster, which had a check by Flash Killer for Macromedia Flash. Once unchecked all is normal. Thanks for checking that Tour website for me. Bill -------- On Thu, 24 Jun 2004 15:13:15 -0500, "heirloom" wrote: Hey Bill, I went to the site and 'took the Tour.' Glad you got it remedied......although, I don't understand the Flash thing
being the problem.....is Flash a form of Java? Whatever, you did good. Heirloom, old and if it works, it's good "Bill Sumrall" wrote in message ... Heirloom, found the problem. Rick is correct in that the java code called the Flash in the Tour I
wanted to see (viewed Source). Three websites which test java showed java to be working. Reinstalled SpywareBlaster, I believe it was, and found the checkmark beside disable ActiveX so unchecked it, uninstalled SB again and all is well.
