Computer does not detect LiteOn CD-Writer only nero does

My computer does not recognise the liteon cd -writer and
therefore other software cannot recognise it either. I
have Nero burnning rom and that works with it well enough.
I am wondering wether or not there is a driver that i can
download that will allow the pc to recongnise my new
hardware................ my email is

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand what you are saying since you say that
your computer does not recognise your CD writer yet you can use Nero to burn
CDs. So may I ask a few questions.
Can you see the CD writer in the Device Manager (System Properties | Device
Manager | CDROM)?
Is the CD Writer assigned a drive letter and visible in Windows Explorer?
Can you see the contents of a CD when placed in the drive using Windows
Explorer?
What software doesn't recognise the drive?
What model Lite-On drive do you have?
