Default Critical Updates

I am trying to get critical updates to work on a computer
running ME. It is a Compaq Presario 5000. First I am
having a hard time just getting the udates page to load.
I get a lot of this page is not advailable. But I keep
trying, and finally get it. After scanning it says there
is 21 critical updates to load. I can't get past the
first install alone upgrade. "Microsoft Internet Explorer
6 Service pack 1 for windows 98, windows me". I get to
the set up part, and it gets to a certain point and then
I get the message: Setup was unable to download the
required components. Please make sure you are connected
to the internet, or try to run set up later. I Have
tried to do this half a dozen times. Getting the same
result each time. How can I get the critical updates
installed?
Thank you!

Default Critical Updates

Disable your Anti Virus auto scan and see if it doesn't work better that
way.

also disable (or monitor, at least) any firewall you may use.
