Default At Startup: How Does One Add a Program?

Hello,

In msconfig my startup group is pared to:

ScanRegistry
SystemTray
AVG7_CC
AVG7_EMC
AVG7_AMSVR
Run StartupMonitor
*StateMgr

I wish to learn how to add a program to that list.

Thank you.

Ben.

The easiest way is to add a shortcut to the program required to your
startup folder. By default on a single user PC, C:\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs\StartUp.

Incidentally I feel you may have pared your startup list a little too much
and should perhaps have left the two PowerProfile entries as each runs for
just a fraction of a second as the PC boots during which time they make
important configuration settings. Similarly by removing TaskMon you are
now unable to optimise the placement of files when running Defrag.

I concur with Mike, Ben B, and suggest that you review:

Startup Configuration for Program Launching

Use Start - Run - MSCONFIG and go to the Startup tab. Compare the
listing there with the following Startup checklists:

http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/Uncheck.htm
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.htm
http://www.3feetunder.com/krick/startlist.htm - has trojan related items
listed
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm

Note: Please ensure that you fully understand the purpose of a
startup item, how and why it was put into the startup, and the
consequences (if any) of removing it before you make any changes.
Some items are very important for the proper and safe functioning of
your computer, including at least one item that is listed twice,
LoadPowerProfile.

Hello Jack,

The links are appreciated. The list I gave Mike is as
exists in my msconfig and will, I hope, be filled-out as
is recommended.

Should I have a problem, or when it is done, I will post
back.

My thanks.

Ben.
