Default curio

Hi guys, ()
I have just noticed under c:\program files\common files\system\etc etc,
that there are some folders there that I am not sure about.
One in particular being under another folder (named 1033) named 95.
I came across it by accident just now as Mozilla downloaded a utility to
there instead of where it is supposed to.
What are all these things under "system" which is under "common"?
Just a curio.

Thanks
regards Jane

Search your whole C:\ for folder name 1033.
You may find a dozen or more. It appears MS
likes to use thiis folder name for its apps (Mail, OLE etc.)

What are all these things under "system" which is under "common"?

Operating system mavens may be able to tell you more
about (MS) theory and (general) practice in this respect.
My c:\program files\common files\system\ contains
only four folders, each named for a MS module or function.

What do you reckon?
Also, I have forgotton how to "Append" using Dos, can you help.?
I got the first one like this;;;;;;;;;
"DIR C:\progra~1\"common files"\system\ c:\jane.txt"
What I wanted to do next was Append the next set of information
to the already made 'jane.txt', but I have forgotton how, although
I do recall 2 being in it somewhere.
I ended up making 3 seperate .txts, ie, jane.txt, jane1.txt, & jane2.txt.

Thanks

Hello PCR,
This is Dos stuff so I'll end it here.
I realised I had a Typo when doing the thing, so I could
have appended the resulting DIR's to a single file if I wanted
to.
Still, it started out as a Win98 topic due to the files & folders
loaded by 98 on instal and we havent really branched off, just used
dos to make a point.

DOS is fine. Yes...
"" would append or create a new file, if there was none to begin with.
"" always wipes any pre-existing file.

I'm still thinking. I have no MAPI folder anywhere. However, it has a
Windows sound to it. I'll Google it, & post to the other portion of this
thread. Could be quite normal.

Could be. I am only MSWorks. If your virus checker never found a problem
