Windows ME
I recently got a new hard drive and some memory from a
friend. I installed the hard drive, and the memory in my computer. I started the computer, and the boot saw the new hard drive, but it took longer to boot up than normal. When windows finally came up I ran a Virus scan on both drives. When it got to the new drive it started to scan for boot records. Then it said that it couldn't scan. So I clicked on skip drive. Then it froze, and I had to restart. However since then the computer will not bott correctly. I can't get it to start in Safe Mode. I restored the registry but that didn't help. I also ran a scan disk, and that hasn't helped. When the computer tries to load Windows ME I got an error message with a Blue Screen. The message is as follows. "An Exception OE has occurred at 0028:C005FE18 in VxDMON(01) + 00006FB8. This was called from 0028:C1689273 in VxD CDR4VSD(01) + 00014F33. It may be possible to coninue normally" Then I have the options for CTL+ALT+DEL to restart or I can hit any key to continue. When I try to continue it sits there at a blinking cursor. I spoke to another friend about this message, and he said that the new memory that I put into the computer could be the cause of it. But if that is the case then why did the computer start ok the first time, and then when I ran the Virus Scan all this happened. I NEED HELP!!!!!!! |
