XP to Win98se 16 Colours~solved

I post as an attempt at courtesy,
I cannot find my original post, but a fellow requested
I post my fix if I ever found one.
So here is my voice into the void.

I threw out my XP OS, and re formatted HDD to fat32 and intalled
Win98se (ghosted) on a HP Pavilion machine.
I could only get 16 colours henceforward.
I have found the HP 8903 had the Intel 810 chipset
I installed an appropriate video driver and now everything is hunky-dorey
Intel 810 pv ( I think)
