Default Sasser_D warm in WindowsME

my os is Windows ME. System got crushed, but I was able
restore it.
Now,my Internet Explorer version is 5.5 (it was updated to
6.0 before system restored).
Now, Internet Explorer alerts me that my computer has
Sasser_d Warm.
I tried to install IE 6.0, but downloaded software cannot
process installation, by keeping saing "restart your
computer"

There is NO mechanism by which Internet Explorer can inform you that you have
the Sasser worm. Further since Win Me does not have the LSASS service even if
you have the worm it can do nothing to your system.

To quote Symantec:
W32.Sasser.D
"Systems Not Affected: DOS, Linux, Macintosh, Microsoft IIS, Novell Netware,
OS/2, UNIX, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT,
Windows Server 2003"

To quote Microsoft:
What You Should Know About the Sasser Worm and Its Variants
" Software Not Affected
Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2003
Windows ServerT 2003
Windows XP 64-Bit Edition SP1
Windows Millennium Edition
Windows 98 Second Edition
Windows 98
Windows NT® 4.0 SP6a "

So now stop posting that you have Sasser and instead carry out a thorough
check of your system using your preferred antivirus application equipped with
an updated current set of viral reference signatures.

You've reinstalled ME over itself from the CD - and reverted a lot of stuff
to the un-updated versions in the process.(totally unnecessary, as Mike has
already pointed out - but, since we're there.....)

Look here for advice on how to cure the version soup that you now have for
IE.
