In OE, click Ctrl-F3, then look at the line "REFERENCES". Compare the length
of that line for this email (240 characters, or 6 deep into the thread) to
one of the ones that was "the end of the line", (~1000, or 25 messages
deep.) My guess is that 1024 is the max length for that line, either to be
parsed by OE or to be stored on the server (my bet being on the latter.)

If that happens and you want to back up a level, please remember to
back up a long ways, since if you back up only one level, anyone who
wants to reply will have the same problem you did.

The portion of this where this post really belongs is too deep.
So,
........................... ^--- thread
as you did, I've moved this one up...

..actually I had to do that since the header info in your that
particular post was corrupted and the ms servers I connect to
would not let me send and would prompt me about it when I tried
to send, and so I just jumped a thread but used the same body of
my message. There's always a way
around things

Yes, I noticed that too when I tried to reply to one of these
posts, but couldn't.. What exactly happened to corrupt the
header?

This one can't be posted to, &, yea, 40*25=1000. Those were good
guesses, Terhune-- unless my arithmetic is bad! But I can't waste the
time to count it thrice!

Way too old discussion, but none the less:

I finally installed GEODisk for a trial run. Not unexpected, it caused my
system to lockup when the program tried to close AVG and the nVidia control
driver.... good idea for a program but it sure wouldn't work on this
machine.
AVG HATES to have its programs disabled, and has eventually caused me
problems every time I have done so, no matter how I've done it. nVidia also
doesn't like its video server messed with.

Ah well, worth a try anyway... good idea which might have worked with a
check list setup area for closing programs perhaps.

Yeah yeah,, good material, the proper way. Though as I indicated AVG REALLY
doesn't like to be disabled... talk about embedded programs ... disable it,
run for a while and expect some errors...

Clean Boot isn't intended for anything except maintenance and
install/uninstall programs. NOTHING else! Shouldn't even be connected to the
internet while a Clean Boot is in place, though with some installs, that's
difficult..

Oh I understood/understand that, just a comment that AVG doesn't like being
disabled for ANY reason, tends to lockup or cause errors, at least from my
experiances...
And the nVidia server seems to balk at a number of issues related to its
disablement.

Anyway, your page does show and should be referenced by those wishing to or
needing a "clean boot" for some reason.

See your primed and ready again, so how went the new computer setup? Or
should we do this somewhere else?

| Oh I understood/understand that, just a comment that AVG doesn't like
| being
| disabled for ANY reason, tends to lockup or cause errors, at least from
my
| experiances...
| And the nVidia server seems to balk at a number of issues related to its
| disablement.
|
| Anyway, your page does show and should be referenced by those wishing to
| or
| needing a "clean boot" for some reason.
|
| See your primed and ready again, so how went the new computer setup? Or
| should we do this somewhere else?

| | Yeah yeah,, good material, the proper way. Though as I indicated AVG
| | REALLY
| | doesn't like to be disabled... talk about embedded programs ...
| disable
| | it,
| | run for a while and expect some errors...

| | | Way too old discussion, but none the less:
| | |
| | | I finally installed GEODisk for a trial run. Not unexpected, it
| caused
| | my
| | | system to lockup when the program tried to close AVG and the
| nVidia
| | | control
| | | driver.... good idea for a program but it sure wouldn't work on
| this
| | | machine.
| | | AVG HATES to have its programs disabled, and has eventually
caused
| me
| | | problems every time I have done so, no matter how I've done it.
| nVidia
| | | also
| | | doesn't like its video server messed with.
| | |
| | | Ah well, worth a try anyway... good idea which might have worked
| with
| | a
| | | check list setup area for closing programs perhaps.
