No, it is not. Make sure you have a bootdisk with CDROM support, The win98
CD and the product key as well as a qualifying product CD if your win 98 cd is a retail upgrade. If it is a full version or OEM version you do not need the qualifying product. Assuming the drive you want to wipe and reinstall win98 is C drive, here is a sinmple set of steps: 1. Set the Bios to boot from the A: drive (Typically this is the default). 2. Boot the floppy with CDROM support (note the drive letter assigned to the CDROM) 3. At the A: prompt type format C: 4. When formatting is complete, insert the WIN CDROM in the CD drive 5. At the a: prompt type drive letter of CDROM:\win98\setup 6. Follow instructions during install Note: You may want to make sure you save any important data since everything will be lost -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com "brad" wrote in message ... Buy one or borrow one from a friend (assumes you have a legal copy,
somewhere). -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo " wrote in message ... Thanks, that is what i thought. Teach me to clean up my
stuff. I have the startup disk for the old system but that won't work. I will start calling people to see if somebody I know still has one. -----Original Message----- Buy one or borrow one from a friend (assumes you have a legal copy, somewhere). -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo " wrote in message news:27ea01c47074$70894ca0 ...
