Default Uninstall W98 for ME (not upgrade version)

Somebody give me the CD of Microsoft Windows Millemium
Edition but not the upgrade one. I want to install it but
I don't want to buy the upgrade one. It says that I
allready have an operating system. If I uninstall
Windows98, will I can install Windows ME after ? Can you
have another idea other than uninstall W98 ? Am I
obligated to buy the "Windows ME Upgrade Version" ? Please
writte me back ...

Ron Badour has put together step-by-step instructions on his web site.
Here's a link to his How To page:

If this is a restoration ME CD, no.

If this is an OEM ME CD, maybe.

If this is a retail ME CD, maybe. Subject to driver support for your
hardware.

Windows ME is basically Windows 98 that has been redressed and a few new
features added. If you already have Windows 98, then leave it alone. There
is virtually no benefit from upgrading to Windows ME. If you want a real
uprade, you want Windows 2000. 2000 is like XP for slower, older
computers. It is a really nice OS. 2000 is almost 100 percent compatible
with XP.
