Default font loading failure

After installing a popular firewall, I experienced a
problem with my system hanging on startup. In every case,
the bootlog shows failure of a long list of Windows fonts
at Load/Start. Failure code was 0016 for each font. The
only permanent fix I have been able to find is completly
uninstalling the firewall. Wanting to keep the firewall, I
now boot in safe mode and just uncheck all software
related to the firewall in system config startup file,
which usually results in a successful boot. But, I would
like to find a way around the annoying hang problem in
normal startup. Any ideas?
