Default HCF Modem Region Select

What is this item in / Settings ?
It appears on only one off two PCs, the one
with the newer modem (AOpen FM56-PLX)
and requires the user locate the country
from which he is dialing. I had a lot of
trouble setting up Internet connection,
not since I spotted HCF Modem Region
Select (which first had no entry.)

Default HCF Modem Region Select

The option tells the modem how to default to certain regional specific
settings so it meets local regulations and is properly matched to the local
telephone system. Items include number of times to attempt redialling or
period and frequency of certain tones.
