Understood that and I guess I would have to say I wasn't very clear.
Any CD should always be assigned a drive letter in the lower part of the alphabet. Even when installing Windows. Control of drive letters is purely controlled by DOS/Windows. We really do not have any real control over that. "fcf" wrote in message ... Thanks for the response and the help. Since you must edit the links anyway, you might as well permanently set your CD drive(s) to letter you will probably never reach no matter how many devices (e.g. camera card readers) you add in future. Mine are set to drives O: and Q: via / Control Panel / CD drives / Properties for each item. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

All you have to do is edit the shortcuts, put the correct
letter in them. Right click the shortcut choose properties. -----Original Message----- Windows 98 1997 model Dell XPS, 400 MHz PII Added second HDD Windows made it drive D:, and changed the CD-ROM to drive E: Program, installed before above change, wants to find its CD on drive D: instead of E: Short of uninstalling the program and reinstalling, is there any way I can make the CD-ROM drive drive D: and the HDD drive E:?
