Default Win98 Error during bootup

Windows 98 2nd ed.booted up fine before.No hardware
failures . Now I copied some autocad drawing files which
were on the root directory to a folder called "transfer"
which I created on the Root C:\ wanting to transfer my
files to another machine.
After a reboot when I put in new IP address to put the
machine on the network, I get the error Invalid System
Disk. Replace the disk and then press any key
I was able to enter thru DOS using a bootdisk.None of the
files have been deleted. Any specific files I should
check to see why it is not booting up.
My main concern is to copy the transfer folder over to
another machine (it is 468MB so I can't put it on a
floppy). The machine does not have a CD Burner.
Any suggestions?
Thank You.

try using your bootdisk
once booted to the A: prompt issue the command sys C:
to rewrite your "system" files
